Gothic Chic FW16/17 by MarcellaM x TbhJo

 TBHonest,

I know its been a while guys, and I'm sorry for my absence. I hope you're all enjoying your holiday so far.

As promised earlier, and after posting some sneak peeks from my collaboration on social media, it's time for you guys to see the great shots and pieces from this FW16/17 collection called "Gothic Chic", inspired by many sources. For instance, gothic themes and styles, and my favourite fabric, VELVET.

It all started when I met Marcella at the launch of her new collection, that took place at CosmoCity, in Beirut Souks, on the 12th of October. The show wasn't like any other fashion show you'd expect to see. Models were standing in front of the public, where each one stood and presented a one of a kind outfit.

I'm known for my love for fashion and artists, and especially Lebanese ones, making us so proud of their artwork. However, the collection really got my attention, and after staying in touch with Marcella, and visiting her workshop, we got to collaborate; where I was able to model my favourite pieces; the ones that got my attention mostly during the event.

I would like to let you guys know more about Marcella Mouawad, the artist behind these creations. Her fashion career all started when she left Beirut, heading to New York where she completed her fashion studies, and ended up specialising in evening wear, and got the chance to collaborate with Carolina Herrera on her final year project. Then she came back to her Lebanese roots, and decided to intern for the iconic, well-known Lebanese designer, that had mostly a huge impact on her throughout her fashion career : Elie Saab. This internship allowed her to gain even more experience, and it motivated her to have her own line.

Being such a hard-working and determined person with such a vibrant soul, she never imagined opening her first studio anywhere else than in Lebanon. In 2013, she brought her professional New York skills to Beirut, and opened her first workshop and showroom in Mar Takla, Hazmieh.

Her brand, MarcellaM, stands for luxury, with fabrics and finishings that represent every woman's worth.
I was honoured to work with Marcella, as well as getting to know her better.
The collaboration was everything I hoped it would be. It was also so much fun. As for my makeup, I've used as eyeshadows the HUDA BEAUTY Rose Gold Palette, and lashes in Samantha #7 by HUDA BEAUTY as well, in addition to Jeffree Star's highlighter in Ice Cold from the Skin Frost collection.

I hope you guys like the shots! Don't forget to follow Marcella on her social media pages listed below. For more details, feel free to contact her :)

Black Velvet

To Be Honest,

I'm really proud to finally say that I've launched my blog.

I have decided that my first blog post is going to be about one of this season's trends: velvet. I chose to show you guys this simple black velvet dress from ZARA, included in the FW16/17 TRF collection.
There is a bunch of reasons why I chose this dress. First, for it's simplicity. Also, I love that it's suitable for any event, and can be worn with heels or flats and stay impressionable. Many brands and even designers used velvets in their new collections and designs as it is taking over the runways this season. In addition, velvet goes well with almost every style, from goth to punk, to classic and so on.

To liven up this look, I decided to have a dramatic makeup, but still keep it simple. This is why red lipstick was my choice, and to be more specific, L'OrĂ©al Paris, Color Riche's "Red Passion". I'm not certain if you guys have noticed that I applied red eyeliner, on my lower waterline, inspired by an episode of CHANEL Beauty Talks : Red Power featuring the face of their new campaign, Kristen Stewart. However, this particular eyeliner is actually Mary Jo K lipliner from Kylie Cosmetics, cause it's really pigmented.

They say every girl needs a little black dress. Mine happens to be velvet.

I really like the photos shot by a good friend of mine, in Downtown Beirut. So here are a few more.
Thank you for your support and for reading this. The best is yet to come.
